Players throw dice to move around the building (note that Miss Scarlett always takes the first turn).
Upon entering a room you name a suspect, a murder weapon, and the room you just entered, like this (For example) "I suggest the crime was committed by Colonel Mustard, in the (room you just entered), with a gun." The named suspect and murder weapon are both moved into your current room.
The player to your left must, if able, prove part of your suggestion by showing you one card from his/her hand that matches your suggestion. If that player can't do so, the player to their left must prove part of your suggestion by showing you one card from thier hand. This continues clockwise until someone shows you a card, or until all players have passed.
If someone shows you a card, you then cross it off on your detective notebook as a possibility. Any cards you hold should also be crossed off as possibilities.
After a while the number of possible combinations left is so few you'll either know the answer outright, or be close enough to guess at it. (You might want to guess if you thnk someone else is about to solve the crime).
In part 2 I go through the rules explaining a typical turn. Please do comment if you've played this game.
In part 3 I complete my look at the rules and explain why this is not one of my favourite games. However as a family game it's a winner! Please do comment if you've played this game.
